Culture set to take centre stage at Expo 2020 Dubai
The conclusion of one year and the commencement of another always marks an important moment for our team here at Renovo, as well as for many of our clients, who – whether they own residential property, commercial property or a combination of the two – often take their chance at this time of year to contemplate short-term and longer-term plans alike.
2020 promises to be an extremely exciting one for everyone associated with Dubai, however, for the simple reason that the hugely anticipated ‘World’s Greatest Show’ – Expo 2020 Dubai – is drawing ever nearer. Now, a new announcement has signalled just how prominent a role the arts will play in making this looming event worthy of its billing when it all begins on 20th October.
Dubai continues to build its reputation as a cultural epicentre
As the United Arab Emirates (UAE) city’s local arts scene goes from strength to strength, it’s only fitting that Dubai Culture & Arts Authority – otherwise simply known as Dubai Culture – has been announced as Expo 2020 Dubai’s Official Culture Supporter.
Dubai Culture, for those who are unaware, manages such key cultural sites in the city as Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, Al Shindagha Museum, Etihad Museum and Dubai Public Libraries. Since its launch in 2008, it has also launched innovative events including Dubai Art Season, Dubai Design Week, Emirates Airline Festival of Literature and Sikka Art Festival.
The authority therefore possesses the ideal experience and expertise for its task of helping to promote and enhance the UAE’s exciting arts scene in the run-up to and during Expo 2020. Not only will the Sikka Art Festival make its annual return, for example, but there will also be an Expo-led and community-centred art programme.
The Expo itself, meanwhile, will be a magnet for culture vultures from across the globe on account of its Visual Arts Programme and Design and Crafts Programme, with another highlight set to be Al Wasl, the first Emirati opera.
Will 2020 be a year of change for you or your Dubai business?
With Expo 2020 Dubai set to run until 10th April 2021, it will doubtless be an enthralling globally-oriented celebration of the finest in creativity, innovation and culture, attracting a predicted 25 million visits. But what about you – will 2020 be a momentous year for you, too?
Here at Renovo, we’re delighted to be playing our own transformative role in making Dubai the cutting-edge corner of the world that it continues to be – and if you’re planning responsible and sustainable renovation works in the UAE in the year ahead, we could be your ideal partners.
